Dala Horse Whittling Workshop – 8 March
8 March, 2-5pm
This half day course will introduce people to safe carving techniques with a smaller project than a spoon that only requires a straight knife. The Dala horse blanks are pre-cut using a bandsaw (something that was traditionally done by the forest workers in Sweden making these) and need careful carving to give them more form and character. We will learn safe carving techniques using some other practice sticks before trying them on the Dala horse. It will take care, finesse and dexterity to avoid cutting too much off your horse.
