Forest Bathing – Mindfulness and Nature Connection 29th June 2019
Join us for some quality time in the forest with a workshop that fosters mindful connection to nature whilst playfully challenging all of the senses. Come into the present moment and wake up to the beauty and serenity of everything around you. Saturday 29th June 2019, 1300-16oo.
Life in a city can really take it out of us. There is so much stimulation, noise and temptation, and many of our days are overfilled with stresses, deadlines and pressures. At times, we run too fast to remember the gentle hum of the plants and the slow pace of the ancient trees. Coming into the present moment to intentionally foster a connection to the natural world can bring one back to oneself and to the beauty of everything around, can widen one’s perspective and readjust one’s sense of what is truly important, and can be extremely relaxing. From a place of peace and stillness, we can reinvigorate our energy to act positively for our communities and our planet, every day.
Join our instructor Justus for this session to immerse yourself on a guided nature connection journey for a few hours. The session will include elements of meditation, gentle stretches, nature-themed games and partner exercises that challenge all the senses, continuously bring you back into your awareness as it unfolds from moment to moment, and help you build a sense of place.
Justus is the Community Engagement and Education Officer for the Carbon College. He has previously worked in an outdoor education centre in BC, Canada. There, he developed this course (at the time called ‘Explore’) with the help of Jon Youngs’ Coyote Mentoring and local indigenous and Canadian mentors. He has spent the whole of 2018 facilitating and developing this curriculum for children and adults.
We are presently looking for a suitable woodland around Edinburgh and will update the location soon.
Bring comfortable clothing to spend a few hours in the woods. There might be moments where you will be invited to be barefoot in the forest, so keep that in mind 🙂 Also bring some snacks.
