Growing and Storing Winter Crops 01/09/18
This workshop will teach participants how to extend their growing and cropping season into the winter and spring months as well as how to harvest and store autumn crops so they last through winter. It is recommended that participants have some experience of growing their own or have participated in the ‘Introduction to growing your own’ on 18th August.
- Tour of the Croft
- Review of crops that will grow and/or crop over winter
- Using green manures
- Storying the autumn harvest to create a winter food larder
- Using fleece, polytunnels and greenhouses to protect crops
- Practical sessions, undertaking seasonal tasks in the market garden and greenhouses.
