Seaside Foraging at Wardie Shore – 23rd August
23rd Aug, 11.30am – 1.30pm
Take advantage of a very low tide to investigate the seaweeds – and any other stuff we can find – at Wardie Shore. Seaweeds are a diverse and fascinating group of organisms. With uses from the kitchen sink to the carbon sink and a fascinating folklore to boot. We’ll learn how to identify the common species and find out a bit about their ecology and folklore.
Meet by the main beach entrance, which leads out to the Wardie Shore breakwater.
No need to bring anything but appropriate clothes, stout shoes with good grips and perhaps a snack. Cameras (even on phones are always useful too). All participants will also receive a seaweed field guide!
*Please be aware rocks can be very slippery indeed. We will exercise caution and do things sensibly. If you have any access or mobility issues, please contact us and we can plan things to be convenient for all.
