Festive Fermentation – Kimchi & Kraut 18/11/18
The aim of this workshop is for participants to learn how to make kraut and kimchi and how to test & trial variations of both to make their own at home – a brilliant use of leftover festive veggies!
Edinburgh Fermentarium founder, Ruth Munro, will introduce participants to the delicious and nutritious world of fermented vegetables – all done with a festive twist of ingredients. The techniques you will learn have been used for centuries across the world – and the result is a tangy treat that not only packs a punch in the flavour department, but is full of health-promoting nutrients and bacteria.
Participants will make their own Kraut and Kimchi to take home, with an optional festive ingredient twist – which will make the perfect homemade present or addition to your festive feast. All ingredients and optional spices will be provided – though participants are asked to bring 2 sterilised recycled glass jars along – see Requirements below.

For this workshop participants are asked to bring along some sterilised recycled glass jars (no larger than 1L capacity) to take home their Kimchi and Kraut – the ultimate zero waste creation! This website has some great tips on how to sterilise your jars.
Basic refreshments will be provided, please let us know at the start of the workshop if you have any food allergies.
