Make 2020 the year you grow your skills and confidence in the garden. Whether you have a tiny container garden, an allotment or a dream of becoming a market gardener, this course is a good place to start if you’re new to growing food.
The course takes place over 7 months of the 2020 growing season with 7 workshops on Saturday mornings (10.30-1.30). These sessions will be fun and informal as well as informative and will cover different aspects of planning, growing and harvesting. Trainees will also have access to a shared teaching plot on the Croft.
Workshop 1 28th March: Propagation (seeds and cuttings)
Workshop 2 25th April: Preparing the Ground: Site, soil and transplanting
Workshop 3 30th May: Small space and container growing
Workshop 4 27th June: Summer tree pruning
Workshop 5 25th July: Planning a vegetable garden
Workshop 6 29th August: Spotlight on winter salads
Workshop 7 26th September: Seed saving, storage and preserving.

Prices and Concessions
The workshops are £15 each and can be booked individually if you are just interested in one or two of the sessions.
However, we are also offering a limited number of block bookings, at the reduced price of £60 for the whole course (that’s only £8.57 per workshop!). As this price is already greatly reduced, there is no concession available on block bookings, but a concessionary rate is available for individual workshops.
A concessionary rate is available for the following:
- LCCiP Croft members
- Full time students
- Anyone in receipt of the following
- disability allowance
- Carer’s allowance
- Job seekers allowance.
To qualify for a concessionary fee you must be eligible at the time of the course and will be required to provide satisfactory evidence of such.
